grat·i·tude

It’s Thanksgiving week and everyone is rushing around buying last minute ingredients to bake their favorite dishes. We’re all getting ready for travel plans, plenty of turkey, and football. Soon our days will be filled with family, food, and much needed time away from everyday stresses.Many families share the tradition of going around the table and sharing what they are grateful for. I know, how many of you just rolled your eyes? I remember as kids, just waiting for those moments to be over so we could get to the homemade rolls, stuffing, turkey, and mashed potatoes. But, our Moms {Moms were always behind this tradition...right?!} were on to something!

You know what can’t live in the same space as GRATITUDE? Fear, Anger, Resentment, Lack, and Frustration. Being in gratitude mode actually calms down our stress hormones and helps the body maintain a healing state. In a very real way, gratitude heals physically, mentally, emotionally, and energetically. Many successful people {Tony Robbins included} claim that the key to their success is by starting every day with a dose of gratitude. So in the spirit of the holiday, I have a challenge for all of you.

Let’s make a gratitude list. Simple. 10 things you’re grateful for, write them down and I dare you not to smile, have a great day, and feel like a superhero. I’ll start:

  1. My family: my husband (my biggest cheerleader) my daughter (a constant spark of joy in my life), and my sweet doggies.

  2. Doing what I love: everyday for my job. How lucky am I?

  3. Extended family: who have my back no matter what.

  4. Friends: the best a girl could ask for. This includes all of you!

  5. Health: the greatest wealth.

  6. Mentors + Teachers:  whom I have been led to {thank you, universe.}

  7. Nature: specifically the mountains.

  8. Music: it moves me.

  9. Snow: possibly my favorite thing, ever. Until February.

  10. Dark chocolate: no caption necessary.

So go for it, make your list! What did you discover? Let’s start our days with gratitude the rest of the year and watch the miracles happen. I'd love to hear about your experience in the comments below. And have a wonderful turkey day!

LOVE + THANKFUL HEARTS,
